When They Give You Lemons, Make Lemonade

Despite the actions of the geniuses in Washington DC who passed the so called Energy Independence and Security Act of 2007 which banned the incandescent bulb, there is still light at the end of the tunnel.

Even though the old fashioned 100 Watt incandescent bulbs are to go the way of the Dodo bird on January 1, 2012, with the 75 Watt bulbs following in 2013 and the 40 Watt bulbs gone by 2014 there is still hope. Instead of being forced to rely on expensive LED bulbs or mercury laden compact fluorescent lamps, Americans will be given the choice of using the Newcandescent bulb created by Larry Birnbaum, founder and owner of Epic Light Bulb of South Hackensack, NJ.

Birnbaum’s new bulb meets the requirements of 30 percent greater energy efficiency required by the 2007 Act and has already been approved by the Department of Energy. In the true American spirit, Mr Birnbaum saw a need and used his skills and ingenuity to fill that need. Not content to let the nanny staters impose their hair brained schemes on all Americans, Mr Birnbaum came up with a solution which provides more freedom for every citizen of the United States.

Larry Birnbaum, creatof the "Newcandescent" light bulb

Birnbaum is a true American hero who should be nominated as Time Magazine’s Person of the Year. He epitomizes the can-do American spirit which has brought this nation through many rough patches. His invention means that Americans will not have to purchase the more expensive LED bulbs, nor will they have to keep a Hazmat team on speed dial for fear of breaking a compact fluorescent bulb in the house.

The instructions for handling such breakage are enough to give anyone the willies. Any instructions that begin with “Cordon off the area…” would give even the most nonchalant of us pause.

Another benefit of the Newcandescent bulb is that it is manufactured right here in the good old USA: we will not have to get it from China. We will have the choice to purchase a cheaper, safer bulb which will last just about as long as LED or fluorescent bulbs and can be proud that it is a product being manufactured right here in this country.  That us not an unimportant consideration at a time when so many are still unemployed.

All of America owes Mr Birnbaum a vote of thanks for his efforts in preserving our liberties in the face of politicians who are convinced that they know better than we do how to regulate our own lives. In a time when many of the so called wise men are warning of the inevitable decline of America, there comes a man who does not see things that way. Larry Birnbaum saw an opportunity and set about taking advantage of it. May he have the greatest success in his endeavor and may his American spirit provide inspiration for us all.
