Scandals R Us

How is it that the President of the United States learns of every scandal in his administration through the media? The President has all the resources of the FBI, CIA, NSA, DoJ and numerous other intelligence agencies at his disposal and he still knows nothing until it breaks on Fox News? Are these agencies deliberately keeping President Obama in the dark? Is someone in the White House blocking information that President Obama needs? Why is it that in five and a half years President Obama has done nothing to ensure that he gets all the information he needs first hand without having to watch Fox News.

Take the gun walking scandal known as Fast & Furious.  “Mr. Obama said that Holder has indicated he was not aware of the controversial tactic known as ‘letting guns walk’.” The President added, “Certainly I was not (aware).” And yet, it was his administration that was gleefully shipping assault weapons to Mexican drug cartels which directly resulted in the deaths of some 200 Mexicans and two American border agents.

The response to these deaths was stonewalling, denials and obfuscation from both the White House and the DoJ. Attorney General Eric Holder was actually held in contempt by the House of Representatives for his refusal to turn over documents. Two years after the gun walking scandal was revealed, some of the participants were fired, but the firings were limited to the rank and file – except in the case of Eric Holder’s Chief of Staff, Gary Grindler. Oddly enough, the mainstream media was markedly uninterested in the proceedings except for Sharyl Attkisson of CBS News.

Then we have the debacle in Benghazi. Four Americans, including the US Ambassador, were murdered and the Obama administration’s immediate response was to blame it all on a YouTube video. They even sent out UN Ambassador Susan Rice to all five Sunday morning talk shows to peddle that bilge even after intelligence reports confirmed it was a well planned terrorist attack. (For those who still have faith in the Obama administration that would be a “Man Caused Disaster.”) As the two year anniversary of the Benghazi attack approaches, we still have no clear-cut answers as to how it happened.

In a news briefing earlier this month, U.S. Rep. Trey Gowdy, R-S.C., asked reporters a series of questions about what happened in Benghazi, Libya, on Sept. 11, 2012:

“Can you tell me why Chris Stevens was in Benghazi the night he was killed? Do you know why we were the last flag flying in Benghazi after the British had left and the Red Cross had been bombed? Do you know why requests for additional security were denied? Do you know whether the president called any of our allies and said, ‘Can you help, we have been under attack?’ ”

Trey Gowdy is the eminently qualified Chairman of the new Select Committee on Benghazi. If anyone can get to the bottom of this matter, it would be Trey Gowdy.Scandals R Us

The worst scandal of all has to be the abuse of the power of the IRS which targeted groups that were opposing Barack Obama and the Democrats. We all learned of this egregious abuse of power when Lois Lerner apologized for the targeting of conservative groups. President Obama expressed his “anger” and “outrage” that this could happen on his watch. Obama also pledged to work with Congress in its emerging investigation into the controversy, pledging his administration would work “hand in hand with Congress” to further its oversight. Well, that turned out to be a crock of bovine excrement as the Obama administration went to DefCon 1 to forestall any real investigation of the wrong doing.

After first blaming “rogue” agents in Cincinnati, the administration had to back pedal when this proved to be about as true as the story of the video causing the “man caused disaster” in Benghazi. When called before a congressional committee to explain her role in the IRS scandal, Lois Lerner – the point person for targeting groups with ‘Patriot’ or ‘Tea Party’ in their names – declared her innocence of all and any wrong doing and then declined to answer questions based on her 5th Amendment rights. Despite all these shenanigans, Barack Obama had the temerity to declare that there was “not even a smidgen of corruption at the IRS.”

Richard Milhouse Nixon was impeached for trying to use the IRS to target his enemies. Article 2, Section 1 states:

  1. He has, acting personally and through his subordinates and agents, endeavoured to obtain from the Internal Revenue Service, in violation of the constitutional rights of citizens, confidential information contained in income tax returns for purposed not authorized by law, and to cause, in violation of the constitutional rights of citizens, income tax audits or other income tax investigations to be intitiated or conducted in a discriminatory manner.

Barack Hussein Obama’s minions actually succeeded in targeting his enemies. They not only endeavored to abuse the IRS, they actually did so. Of all the scandals of the Obama administration, this one is the most frightening. The IRS has power over the lives of every American. They can use their power and resources to break anyone that they wish to break.

The Obama administration is the most lawless in all of American history. The actions of this administration make Watergate seem like an insignificant misdemeanor. Barack Obama rules by executive fiat. In the case of ObamaCare, he has unilaterally made at least 27 changes in the law since it was passed. The administration ignores the laws it disapproves while implementing policies in defiance of the laws and the Constitution.

Now we have stories of veterans dying because of neglect at the VA, a high ranking agent of the CIA in Afghanistan outed by the White House, and Barack Obama’s feckless foreign policy. All that can be said of the Obama regime and his collaborators in the Democrat controlled Senate is what Oliver Cromwell said of the Parliament in England in 1653: You have sat too long for any good you have been doing lately… Depart, I say; and let us have done with you. In the name of God, go!
